Here’s the latest news and information about LRS Retirement Solutions.
PensionGold Retirement Solutions has changed its name to LRS Retirement Solutions
The name change to LRS Retirement Solutions is a result of a rebranding initiative by parent corporation Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc. (LRS®). In late 2016, LRS introduced a new logo, the first redesign in 25 years, ushering in a new corporate identity with a dynamic color palette of blue and green chevrons signifying forward momentum and growth.
The new logo and corporate identity have been adopted by all seven divisions of the global technology solutions company to unify the multiple IT-focused lines of business. In conjunction with the corporate identity updates, LRS Retirement Solutions relocated its online presence to the domain www.LRSRetirementSolutions.com.
While the company name, logo, identity, and website have all changed, the mission of LRS Retirement Solutions remains the same since its inception in 1987. The dedicated team of software developers continue to provide innovative pension administration solutions to public defined benefit retirement systems throughout the United States. For more information about LRS Retirement Solutions and Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc., visit www.LRSRetirementSolutions.com and www.LRS.com.
PensionGold and PageCenterX Agreements Finalized with The General Retirement System for Employees of Jefferson County, Alabama
LRS® Retirement Solutions recently signed contracts with The General Retirement System (GRS) for Employees of Jefferson County, Alabama, to implement PensionGold® Version 3 software and LRS' PageCenterX® EDMS solution. The project started in February 2017.
LRS Retirement Solutions first submitted a response as a subcontractor with a vendor proposing on Jefferson County's ERP project. Subsequently the County's ERP project and the GRS pension administration project were conducted separately and the County conducted a competitive bid process. LRS Retirement Solutions submitted a proposal in July of 2015 and, after meeting with GRS to discuss and confirm the project requirements, a final proposal was submitted in November of 2016. That proposal was accepted and contract negotiations began.
GRS has approximately 4,500 active and retired plan members. They have been using a combination of internally developed mainframe applications, spreadsheets, and manual processes for their pension administration. GRS is anticipating great improvements by moving to the PensionGold Version 3 solution. The project includes the PensionGold Version 3 software with MemberDirect (member self-service portal) and EDMDirect (imaging integration) extensions. The EDM solution is comprised of LRS' PageCenterX product along with Kofax for the scan and indexing tool. The implementation is expected to take just over 12 months before moving into parallel and final cut over.
Santa Barbara County ERS Approves Upgrade to PensionGold Version 3
LRS® Retirement Solutions recently signed contracts with Santa Barbara County Employees' Retirement System (SBCERS) to implement PensionGold® Version 3 software, and the project kicked off in January, 2017.
SBCERS has approximately 10,000 active and retired plan members and is a current customer that has been using our PensionGold Version 2 software for the past 18 years. The project includes the PensionGold Version 3 software with extensions consisting of MemberDirect (member self-service portal), EDMDirect (imaging integration), and Workflow using AgilePoint® software. The imaging solution is PageCenterX with Kofax. The implementation is expected to take three years; the contract also includes the initial five years of maintenance and support. Hosting services are being provided by ViaWest, Inc. (the LRS Retirement Solutions hosting partner).
PageCenterX replaces Oracle at Miami Fire Fighters’ and Police Officers’ Retirement Trust
The City of Miami Fire Fighters’ and Police Officers’ Retirement Trust (Miami FIPO) has been a PensionGold customer since 1998, and upgraded to PensionGold® Version 3 software in 2011. LRS Retirement Solutions had originally installed Stellent imaging software at Miami FIPO many years ago and Stellent was subsequently acquired by Oracle. Once we announced that we could provide our own document imaging, storage, and retrieval solution (PageCenterX) at a lower cost, Miami FIPO began working on budgeting to make the change. Now, PageCenterX (PCX) working in conjunction with PensionGold’s EDMDirect extension will provide Miami FIPO with quick, fully-integrated access to document images directly from the PensionGold software. The PCX imaging project also includes the migration of their document images from Oracle.
LRS Retirement Solutions Inks Deal with San Luis Obispo County Pension Trust
LRS Retirement Solutions continues to have success in the Golden State and in June 2016 kicked off a project with a new customer in California. San Luis Obispo County Pension Trust (SLOCPT) is located in the city of the same name, nestled in the middle of California’s Central Coast.
SLOCPT issued an RFP in July of 2015, and LRS was awarded the contract over a number of competitors in the pension administration marketplace. The project scope is typical of many recent LRS projects and includes the implementation of PensionGold® Version 3 software as well as PensionGold extensions: EDMDirect with integration to PageCenterX® software for imaging, Workflow integration, and MemberDirect which is the online member portal. LRS’ subcontractors for the project include Magenic (SLOCPT’s current software vendor) for data conversion, INetU, Inc. for hosting and SoftFile to provide back-file document conversion services. After the implementation, LRS will continue to provide SLOCPT with software maintenance and operational support.
PageCenterX replaces Oracle at New Hampshire Retirement System
New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS), a PensionGold® Version 2 customer since 2001, recently completed a review of PageCenterX and selected it to replace their Oracle® software used for imaging/document management. PageCenterX (PCX) along with several other products were under consideration. NHRS preferred the seamless integration to their existing PensionGold software with PCX, and functionality still came at a lower cost. After the migration was completed, NHRS stated “LRS did an excellent job with training, cutover, and support. It’s not often in my business that something goes this smoothly, and the projects that LRS delivers to us always seem to.”
PensionGold EDMDirect and PageCenterX selected by Mendocino County Employees’ Retirement Association (MCERA)
MCERA went live with PensionGold Version 3 in January 2016. Even before the implementation project was complete, MCERA began the evaluation of PageCenterX (PCX) as the electronic document management system (EDMS) solution for their enterprise. MCERA recently approved the purchase and implementation of the PensionGold EDMDirect extension and PageCenterX, as their integrated imaging/document management solution. The PensionGold Infrastructure team is also providing project management of the back-file conversion which will be conducted by a subcontractor. The implementation is underway and scheduled for completion later this summer.
PageCenterX replaces Oracle at Sonoma County Employees’ Retirement Association
Sonoma County Employees’ Retirement Association (SCERA) has been a PensionGold Version 3 software customer since 2007. LRS Retirement Solutions had originally installed the Oracle software. PageCenterX (PCX) working in conjunction with PensionGold’s EDMDirect extension provides SCERA with seamless integration and the required functionality at a lower cost. SCERA has indicated the change from Oracle to PCX has been an improvement for their organization.
San Antonio Fire & Police Pension Fund (SAFPPF) Selects PensionGold MemberDirect
SAFPPF recently approved the implementation of the PensionGold® MemberDirect extension, the self-service member portal, to its PensionGold Version 3 software installation. SAFPPF has been a PensionGold customer since 1995 and has been using PensionGold Version 3 since 2011. SAFPPF serves 3,900 active members and 2,300 payees. With the MemberDirect portal, the plan members will have secure 24/7 access to their real-time information and a variety of forms. Active members will be able to view their contribution information, while retirees will have access to benefit information … all without the need to contact anyone at the SAFPPF office. Of special note, this is the first implementation of our MemberDirect version that supports both desktop and a variety of mobile devices.
City of San Jose Selects LRS
LRS Retirement Solutions submitted a proposal response for an “Integrated Pension Administration System” to the City of San Jose (CA) Department of Retirement Services (“DRS”) on September 17, 2012. DRS later requested updated cost proposals that included an option for hosting the Pension Administration Software and in August 2014, selected LRS as the vendor of choice. In late January 2015, the contracts were signed and the project is set to begin March 2, 2015. San Jose DRS is a current customer that has been using our PensionGold Version 2 software for 17 years. Their new web-based solution is expected to be hosted at INetU, Inc. (LRS Hosting Partner). The solution for San Jose DRS consists of the PensionGold Version 3 software with additional extensions consisting of MemberDirect (member portal), EDMDirect with integration to PageCenterX® software, and Workflow.
PageCenterX (PCX) is a robust document management repository developed and supported by LRS which is used by a growing number of our retirement system customers. PCX is fully integrated with PensionGold and provides capabilities for indexing, storing, searching, and retrieving document images from electronic folders. Its security features support the demands our customers have related to the sensitive documents they retain.
PageCenterX replaces Oracle at Austin Police Retirement System
The Austin (TX) Police Retirement System (APRS) recently completed a review of PageCenterX and selected it to replace their Oracle® software used for imaging/document management. PageCenterX working in conjunction with the PensionGold EDM extension provides APRS with seamless integration and the capability to retrieve scanned documents directly from the PensionGold Version 1 software.
APRS is the latest of many PensionGold customers that have replaced their existing document management solution with PageCenterX. Customers across the board are happy with the functionality provided with PCX and pleased to have one vendor providing both their line of business and EDM solutions.
City of Austin ERS Chooses LRS Again
In September 2014, LRS® Retirement Solutions was officially recommended by the City of Austin (Texas) Employees’ Retirement System (COAERS) Policy Committee as the preferred vendor for their new pension administration system and unanimously approved by the Board of Directors. COAERS is a current customer that has been using our PensionGold Version 1 software for over 20 years.
Their new web-based solution will include our PensionGold software hosted by INetU, Inc. PensionGold selected by Prince George’s County, Maryland
LRS Retirement Solutions is all set to begin a project with another new customer after a lengthy RFP and contract process. In late 2011, Prince George’s County (Maryland) released an RFP for an ERP system that included requirements for pension administration. SAP requested that we partner with all three of their Systems Integrators (SI) who planned to propose so we could provide the pension administration functionality required in the RFP. One of the SAP SIs was eventually selected for the ERP project. We will be a subcontractor to that SI for the implementation of the PensionGold Version 3 software. That contract was completed and signed several months ago. The software license with Prince George’s County was recently signed, and initial project management meetings are in the planning stages for official kick-off in July 2014.
Prince George’s County is located about 15 miles southeast of Washington, DC and is the second largest county in Maryland. The County currently uses a legacy system and various spreadsheets to handle the administration of the defined benefit plan. With PensionGold Version 3 software, they will have one solution to track active member data, perform benefit calculations, and process benefit payroll. The project also includes PensionGold MemberDirect to provide their 13,500+ plan members secure web access to account information and the ability to perform fast, accurate benefit estimates any time they desire. With the PensionGold software, Prince George’s County will be able to provide increased services to pension plan members without additional staff involvement.
MPERS Selects PensionGold Hosting Services
The Missouri Department of Transportation and Highway Patrol Employees’ Retirement System (MPERS) has been using PensionGold Version 3 since 2010. They recently made the decision to transition from an on-premise installation of our software to using our Hosting Services. In addition to the PensionGold line of business software that is used by MPERS’ 13 staff members, LRS will also be hosting their PensionGold MemberDirect portal used by the 16,000 plan members for 24/7 access to perform benefit calculations, view/update account information, as well as complete and submit forms.
PensionGold selected by Mendocino County Employees’ Retirement Association
LRS Retirement Solutions will soon begin implementing a pension administration system for a new customer, the Mendocino County (CA) Employees’ Retirement Association (“MCERA”).
MCERA, located in Ukiah, California, currently uses the County’s MUNIS system along with manual processes to manage the pension plan. With PensionGold Version 3 software, the staff at MCERA will be able to use a single database for active and retired employees. As a result, they will be able to provide increased services to pension plan members without additional staff involvement.
The solution will consist of PensionGold Version 3 and MemberDirect (member portal), and it will be hosted at LRS.
The project with MCERA marks the seventh county government project in California and our twelfth PensionGold customer in the Golden State.

With PensionGold Version 3 software, the staff will have one database for active and retired employees. As a result, they will be able to provide increased services to pension plan members without additional staff involvement.
The solution will consist of PensionGold Version 3 and will include additional components consisting of MemberDirect (member portal) and EmployerDirect.
Houston Firefighters’ Relief & Retirement Fund (HFRRF) selects MemberDirect and Hosting Services
HFRRF has been using PensionGold Version 3 in production since early 2011 and recently approved the purchase and implementation of the PensionGold MemberDirect extension, the self-service member portal, to its software installation. HFRRF provides services for 4,000 active firefighters and 2,500 payees. With the MemberDirect product, the HFRRF plan members will have secure 24/7 access and be able to perform benefit calculations, view data, and access forms without the need to contact a membership counselor.
In addition, HFRRF has elected to move away from an on-premise installation of our software to using our Hosting Services. The decision includes the hosting of their PensionGold Version 3 software and the new MemberDirect extension, as well as their primary website (www.hfrrf.org). All of this is part of their strategy to have all applications “in the cloud” which will allow their staff to focus on providing service to the active and retired firefighters in their plan.
